Commentary from Pundit Pete - A Sad Day for America

PPPS (Littleton) With Herman Cain suspending his campaign today, it's a sad day for America.
  • A sad day because another great American, a true candidate of the people and for the people, has been swallowed up by the political forces arrayed against him.
  • A sad day because a corrupt and biased media has succeeded in destroying a good man's reputation without a single piece of corroborating evidence, while overlooking documented outrageous, and sometimes illegal, behavior of politicians whom they support.
  • A sad day because it reduces the chances that other individuals of Mr. Cain's (or Governor Palin's) caliber will choose to serve their country in a political capacity.
  • A sad day because so many conservatives failed to stand by and defend Mr. Cain, with only a few exceptions, those being Coulter, Levin, Bozel, and yours truly, Pundit Pete.
  • A sad day because of what's been done to Dr. King's Dream.
  • And a sad day because certain pundits possessing great wisdom and integrity, will hesitate before they once again post their predictions for all to see.
As sad as this day is for America, we can still look forward in hope because of patriots like Mr. Cain. To quote Patriot Pete, who wrote to us on July 23, 2011:

They have awakened us. We will not give up and we will not go away.  We will stand firm until their power has passed.

Thank you Herman Cain, for your faith, your courage, and your inspiration. You are a great Patriot!
God bless you and your family.

Protest Groups to Reimburse County for Costs of Black Friday Bridge to Nowhere Event

PPPS (Littleton) Prompted by our in-depth investigation into the Bridge to Nowhere protest on Black Friday, the groups responsible have agreed to reimburse Jefferson County for law enforcement costs associated with their radical activities.
Our PPPS investigation indicates that the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office incurred significant costs related to dispatcher time, mileage, and 5 minutes of investigative work for one Sheriff's Deputy to respond to 911 calls reporting free speech activities north of the Wadsworth and Bowles intersection.

After a lengthy internal audit in response to our Freedom of Information Act request, Jefferson County today issued a statement that a total of $17.62 was expended in connection with the Black Friday event. By our accounting, that brings the total cost of the Bridge to Nowhere, including both county and federal government expenditures, to $3,000,018 (rounded to the nearest $1).

Responding to questions from a PPPS reporter, a spokesman for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office admitted that no lives were lost due to the diversion of dispatcher and deputy time away from other law enforcement duties.

PPPS reporter Progressive Pete, with the Jefferson County cost estimate in hand, confronted one of the purported leaders of the protest, a man identified only as Citizen P, at his suburban home.

When shown the bill for his radical activities, Citizen P responded, "Wow, that's a lot less than we thought it would be. We discussed reimbursement to the county before we even held our protest, and took up a collection at our Bridge to Nowhere Tea Party group meeting last night. With promised matching funds from the For Cryin' Out Loud Foundation, I'm pretty sure we've already got enough to cover the $17.62."

A mysterious women who would only give her name as Citizen C, then came out of the home and said "Please make sure you put in your story something about that nice Sheriff's Deputy. He was very helpful, explained to us about our free speech rights and wished us a safe protest. He also said something about a giant paper weight, but I think he must have meant 'paper work.' I only wish I'd written down his name or badge number, you know, so we could get him a commendation or something."

PPPS will follow up to see if the groups actually follow through on their reimbursement promise. Check back for updates.

In an unrelated story, the Denver Post reported yesterday that the state and local law enforcement efforts associated with the Occupy Denver protest will have cost taxpayers an extra $782,689.

Citizen Pete Sends Us Something Priceless

PPPS (Littleton) Our loyal reader and occasional contributor, Citizen Pete, sent this comment on the Tea Party Bridge to Nowhere protest recently covered by the Pundit Pete Press Service.

Dear Editors at the Pundit Pete Press Service -

I just have this to say about that stupid Black Friday protest at that bridge.

Butcher paper, poster board and paint for sign making.

    $ 75

    Pedestrian Bridge to Nowhere.

    $ 3 Million

Giant billboard for posting Tea Party messages.

    Priceless!

    Your friend,
    Citizen Pete

P.S. Non union labor was used in sign making and posting efforts.

Tea Party Finds Use for $3 Million Bridge to Nowhere

PPPS (Littleton) A local group of Tea Party activists finally found a use for the $3 Million Pedestrian Bridge to Nowhere near Littleton, Colorado. The group convened for a Random Act of Illumination to shine light on government waste and encourage election of conservatives to prevent future projects like this.

    The message read:
    $3 MILLION BRIDGE TO NOWHERE
    FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD
    VOTE CONSERVATIVE

The local 9News station was there to report on the event.

PPPS was the first to report rumors of the planned protest and will be filling updates on the story. Refer to our November 22 story for more details.

Tea Party Not Dead - Rumor of Tea Party Protest In Colorado

PPPS (Littleton) Despite pronouncements in the media and political circles that the Tea Party is officially dead, having been replaced in the hearts and minds of middle America by the Occupy Movement, PPPS has identified rumors of an upcoming Tea Party protest in Colorado. To verify these rumors, we sent our crack reporter team to the remote suburb of Littleton, Colorado to investigate. Our team includes noted expert on the Tea Party Movement, Progressive Pete, and our now homeless Occupy Wall Street reporter, Protester Pete. Here is their report so far:

Upon arriving in Littleton, we settled into a secret subdivision home location near the community center at Southwest Plaza mall. Although at first glance, the community seemed passive, we uncovered an underlying level of dissatisfaction centered around a recently built pedestrian bridge.

It seems that some in the community are questioning the need for the bridge, which we found provides an aesthetically pleasing connection between two large, empty parking areas. A few local residents have also questioned the miniscule $3 million cost of the project, a bargain by most public works project standards, particularly when federal (80%) instead of local funds were mostly used.

Although most  people we interviewed knew neither the reason for the bridge or the actual cost, they all expressed suspicion and some inexplicable anger, apparently stirred up by recent coverage by the local 9News TV station, the Denver Post, and political blog sites.

We emphasize inexplicable, because we could not identify a single local resident who had actually walked across the bridge, or even knew of, or had seen, someone who had.

During the course of our investigation, we identified rumors of a potential protest at the bridge by Tea Party activists, including an obscure reference on a web site.

Although details are uncertain, it appears that the protest may take place at 10 AM on Friday, November 25, with parking at either side of the bridge.

We have also partially identified one of the instigators, a shadowy figure named Patriot P_____. Others implicated may include a Persnickety P., address unknown.

Check back for details as this story unfolds.

Occupy Denver Leader Quits to Join the One Percent

    PPPS (Denver) BREAKING NEWS........
    Kelsey Whipple photo from Westword
In a stunning setback for the Occupy movement, PPPS today confirms that Shelby, the newly elected leader of Occupy Denver has quit the movement to join the so-called "1 percent."

Questions were initially raised  last Friday when Shelby was missing from Occupy Denver's protest of BlogCon11, a conference of radical right-wing bloggers taking place at a swank Denver hotel. Even the bloggers were wondering.

    VF Daily/Conde Naste Digital Archive
Now our trio of investigative reporters, Progressive Pete, Pedestrian Pete and Protester Pete, have solved the mystery.  Shelby has left the movement to move in with a member of the 1%, the very target of the Occupy Denver protests.

Although we have yet to firmly identify the culprit, we can confirm that Shelby's new friend is an Afghan and that Shelby's new home is a plush penthouse in Denver's exclusive Spire tower.

    Quote of the Week

PPPS (Denver) With this week's unrest in the Occupy Wall Street movement and the obvious comparisons to the Tea Party Movement, we are reminded of advice from that malcontent, Persnickety Pete, found in his popular underground book Manufacturing Anger - A Guide to Political Persuasion (often referred to as the "Tea Party Bible").

If ya want to make people angry, call 'em names.
If ya want to make people really angry, call 'em nasty names.
And, if ya want to start a Movement, call 'em nasty names that ain't even true!
Persnickety Pete in Manufacturing Anger, 1st Ed. 1978.

Our analysis indicates that the failure of the mainstream media and prominent leaders in Washington, DC to acknowledge this sage advice, was largely responsible for the explosion of the Tea Party Movement in early 2009.

White House Releases New Video for Jobs Campaign

    .............BREAKING NEWS UPDATE...........

PPPS (Washington) In a breaking news update, PPPS has learned that sometime tomorrow the White House will release a new informational video on the President's Midwest Bus Tour to promote the President's New Reinvigorated Focus-Like-A-Laser On Jobs Campaign.

The new jobs campaign adopts Nobel Prize economist Paul Krugman's fake alien threat economic recovery plan as a template. Krugman, a frequent White House visitor and presidential confidant, and one of the smartest and most respected economists in the world today, recently discussed his plan on the CNN show GPS with host Fareed Zakaria.

White House Releases New Theme Song for President's Bus Tour

PPPS (Washington) In an effort to assist in President Obama's Midwest Bus Tour to educate and assign blame for our nation's economic woes, the White House today released an uplifting song and music video to serve as a theme for the tour.

The song, titled The Government Can , builds a strong case for increased government intervention in the economy and our personal lives. It is hoped that the song's positive message will go a long way in turning the tide of pessimism, caused by the Tea Party, which has been gripping the country of late.

Tea Party at Fault in Near-Default and Credit Rating Downgrade

PPPS (Washington) Recent data released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis supports the claim by many government leaders, such as Senator John Kerry, and independent pundits, such as David Axlerod, who conclude that the Tea Party is responsible for the recent near default by the U.S. government, and for the resulting credit downgrade by Standard & Poors. Our own PPPS Chief Economic Analyst Prognosticator Pete has evaluated the data, and presents his findings, as illustrated by the following graphs.

A Bit of Tea Party History - Not Much Has Changed

PPPS (Denver) One of our loyal readers, Citizen Pete, sent us a photograph and a short note, putting the current debt ceiling debate in historical context.

    Dear Editor,

Here is a photo of my first Tea Party sign, which I carried at the April 15, 2009 Tea Party event on the west side of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver.

In case you can't read it, it says:

    AN EXTREMELY FRIENDLY
    CITIZEN WHO
THINKS HE HAS A RIGHT TO SPEAK
AND WHO DECIDED TO WING IT
    WITH THIS SIGN PROTESTING
    OUT OF CONTROL  SPENDING

Not a lot has changed since then -- spending is still out-of-control and our leaders are still calling us names. I guess we've graduated from being "right wing extremists" to "terrorists".

Those pathetic politicians can call us what they like, but We Ain't Goin' Away!

Thanks to our friends Bradley Ray and Pamela Gudgeon, and Bruce Bellott  for writing that inspiring song,

    God bless you,
    Citizen Pete

Default Crisis Averted As Philanthropist Steps Forward

PPPS (Washington & Denver) In a breaking story this morning, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney announced that President Obama has negotiated, and is about to accept, a $50 trillion private donation intended to forestall an impending U.S. government default and to solve the nation's debt problem through at least November, 2012. Rumors are circulating as to the identity of the donor, who wishes to remain anonymous.

Our own PPPS crack team of researchers and reporters, however, have identified the donor as Philanthropist Pete, an international financier, currency trader, and media mogul, whose generosity is well known in arts and charity circles around the world. Through secret contacts inside of Philanthropist Pete's international headquarters in Denver we have verified the $50 trillion amount and obtained a photocopy of the actual note to be turned over to the U.S. Treasury Department.

Treasury Secretary Timothy Giethner is reported to be on route to Denver aboard one of Pete's private corporate jets to receive the payment.

Press Secretary Jay Carney would neither officially deny nor confirm the donor's identity and has provided few additional details regarding this surprising announcement, other than to indicate that President Obama will be addressing the nation later in the week regarding the donation, and the unveiling of a new White House proposal for investments in our nation's future.

Unofficially, contacts inside the White House have confirmed that negotiations with the anonymous donor had been ongoing for some weeks, and that in order to avoid press scrutiny and criticism, had been billed as campaign fundraising events and golf outings. A number of the President's out-of-town trips on Air Force One, and a least one cancellation of talks with House Republican leaders, were apparently related to these secret donor negotiations.

In addition, both the apparent inaction by Democrats on the debt ceiling crisis, and Obama's hardline but conciliatory stance involving negotiations with Republicans, now appear to have been skillful maneuvers to delay until this ultimate solution to the debt crisis could be reached. Our hats are off to the President on this one, and our nation is forever indebted to the generosity of the "anonymous" donor.

In an unrelated story, Press Secretary Carney indicated today that Fox News' White House press credentials have been temporarily suspended in light of the controversy surrounding News Corporation's scandalous operations in the UK, and owner Rupert Murdock's questionable journalistic integrity.  We are proud to announce that our own White House correspondent, Political Beat Pete, has been promoted from the if-available seating at the back of the press conference room, to the spot formerly occupied by Fox News in the front row.

PPPS Note: In the spirit of full disclosure, we are forced to divulge that Philanthropist Pete recently purchased a controlling interest the Pundit Pete Press Service. We reiterate here that this financial connection has no bearing whatsoever on the editorial content or nature of stories covered and reported by the PPPS. We remain true to our high standards of reporting and immune to any influence from ownership interests.

A Painful Letter from Patriot Pete

PPPS - Following is a letter we received from an unknown reader, who signs as Patriot Pete. In these troubled times, we find his words compelling.

Dear Editor, I pray you will find it in your heart to pass this on to our fellow citizens.

I am greatly troubled, and find it painful to write these words.

But after witnessing events in Washington, DC this week, I can only conclude that our current government and many of its leaders are fundamentally corrupt. Corruption lies at the heart of Congress and in the White House and in the press.

They say that power corrupts. I have watched as our leaders have repeatedly thwarted attempts by honest men and women to rein in  government spending and to steer our country away from an impending financial abyss. No plausible explanation for such irresponsible behavior presents itself, other than a will, at all costs, to cling to power. They have lied.  They have stolen. They have demagogued and they have manipulated.  And, they have ignored the clear will of the people.

And most disheartening of all, they appear willing to sacrifice our great nation, our great future, and the future of generations to come, just to stay in power - even if only for one more election cycle. Each day of delay, they carelessly spend more of our children's future.

Their disrespect of us is appalling. Yet they think we don’t see. It is true that there are many who do not see, and many who choose not to.  And there are many who are complicit, especially in the press. This also is disheartening.

But their time is short. I am confident that, in the end, we will  prevail. I just pray that the damage they have caused can quickly be undone.

They have awakened us. We will not give up and we will not go away.  We will stand firm until their power has passed.

Long live our great country and constitution. Beware, those who would do it harm.

See the Documentary Film "The Undefeated"

PPPS (Denver)  Rarely does the editorial board at the Pundit Pete Press Service recommend seeing a particular movie, as most do not warrant it. We make an exception today with The Undefeated, the documentary film about Sarah Palin.

The entire editorial staff attended the Denver premier of the film Friday evening at the AMC theater in Highlands Ranch.  It was outstanding and shed a new light, or should we say, an unreported side, to this honest, inspiring and courageous politician and American Patriot.

Those who already knew some of Sarah's story, despite the efforts of the mainstream media to hide or distort it, will be inspired. And those who did not, will be educated, both about Sarah, and about the media and the left's dishonesty.

Even those who have opposed Palin, should they possess both the intellectual curiosity and courage to attend a showing, will come to admire Palin's courage in taking on her own party, and may even come to question the distasteful narrative they have been led to believe.

We encourage all to see the film, and to invite friends, young and old.

The Undefeated Teaser Trailer from Dain Valverde on Vimeo.

As Americans, we should no longer allow a dishonest and corrupt media to so distort the truth, to so shamelessly influence an election, or to engage in character assassination of this magnitude.

To Sarah Palin we say - you go girl! Game on!
